birthday adventures

good morning friends! are you excited that it's monday again? i woke up to my internet being out, and i was worried it was a sign of a bad week beginning, but luckily it came back after just a little while. phew! what in the world would i do without the precious internet? :)

thank you all so much for the birthday wishes-- it was wonderful to read each and every message you sent. thank you!!

i had a lovely day, beginning with some flowers and a lovely card on the kitchen counter from ryan (no present to open, because i couldn't wait and opened it early!)

he bought me an old school nintendo, which probably seems completely unlike me, but i was so psyched!


it's a funny part of my childhood-- my mom wouldn't let us get a nintendo (smart lady), so my sister and i used to play at our friends' house. but then one day my brother came home with a nintendo that he had bought with his own money, and my mom couldn't tell him he couldn't keep it because it was so cute that he saved up for it and bought it himself! so, we got reaaaaally good at super mario brothers 3, and every once in a while i get a hankering to play the game, and ryan remembered. it's such a funny present! it's actually a really fun way for me to unwind a little and let my brain zone out, which it never does on its own! so yes, it is the one video game that i like and i now own a vintage nintendo. judge me if you want to. :)

then, ryan took my out to breakfast to our neighborhood waffle house (another funny story-- when we came to georgia to decide if we were going ot move here, that's where we went to breakfast because we didn't know where else to go, and we haven't eaten there since, because, well, it's not the healthiest of food, but we've been here for exactly a year now, so it was sort-of a sentimental breakfast. it was so cute that he took me there!)

the rest of the day we just hung out and didn't do much-- went to a fruit stand in atlanta for some gorgeous tomatoes and grapes, dropped off some prints at young blood gallery, nothing too exciting, but it was so nice to have a day off! and lots of people called me, so it was nice to catch up.

the most exciting part of the day was as we were making dinner, and i went outside to put some stuff in the compost bin, and there was a frog sitting in one of my flower pots! i have no idea where it came from, because we really don't live that close to any water, so it was a realy mystery.

we added some water to the flower pot, because frogs aren't supposed to be out of water for too long, right? and then ryan touched its back and it went nuts and hopped into our house!! we chased it around as it tried to hide behind bookshelves and desks and i jumped around and squealed like a little girl, and finally ryan caught it, and we put it back in the flower pot. it was crazy!!

then after dinner we went on a walk, and we took stupid pictures of each other, and it was great fun. i hope neither of us look this bad in real life. :)

then we watched the olympics, which i've been thoroughhly enjoying. i think i'm going to give up art to become a gymnast. haha!
