today i am... a snow bunny

(looking south on my street...4th street)

(a view up the hill from the corner outside my house)

(the next street down the hill from me; feels like "where the sidewalk ends" to me...)

i love my neighborhood when it snows. i went out for a walk this morning and was blown away by the beauty. the sky was this perfect deep blue, and all around me the white snow was so pristine and quiet... i love walking in the snow.

a little soiree!

i had my family over for a little feast last night. here is what i made. lentil salad, tomato-cranberry chutney, cashew-peanut balls, white bean-rosemary dip, baked tomato eggs, green healthy coleslaw, date truffles, and chocolate pudding. it was absolutely delicious! (and healthy!) it was a lovely night.

5 things I am obsessing over today

1. mark kozelek and the red house painters. {his voice has been enchanting me...}
{album: ocean beach}

2. ginger tea {delicious and warming!}

3. sacred contracts by caroline myss. read this book! it will give you insight into your living your life in a more meaningful and powerful way...

4. manifesting a brand new year {i'll be attending a yoga workshop at om time here in boulder on december 31st to manifest a new year that will serve myself and the world, and i can't wait...} i'm also going to be celebrating the 12 holy nights beginning december 26 and ending on january 6. now i'm not religious, but this seems like a wonderful way to lay out your intentions for the coming year...

5. watching movies!

tonight will be... the devil wears prada!

today i am... feeling like a kid

ryan and i just made a snowman! on the back of our neighbor's (and landlord's) trailor! he was pleasantly surprised. :)

i was inspired by my little sister's snowman that she made while bored and home alone today...

if only all 16 year olds made snowmen to cure their boredom... our world would be a much lovelier place.

happy snow day and winter solstice! i hope you're all drinking tea and making soup and watching movies. or drinking lemonade and eating sorbet if you're somewhere warm!

the blizzard of 2006!

{this is our street after the storm...}

{the table in our back yard}

{this is ryan shoveling snow very dramatically...}

{ryan thinks he's going somewhere in his car...}

{but we're actually going somewhere in mine!}

we shoveled and shoveled this morning, and we dug this great path for the 4 runner to get out of the spot it was stuck in, and then when we went back out, a plow had completely blocked it in again! we made it to the grocery store, and then almost back, when our mission was foiled by some sledders and their parents. now we're stuck at the end of the next street, waiting for some melting to happen. i guess it's movie time since we're stuck at home now!

seashell marshmallow chandalier!

it's not really a seashell marshmallow chandalier... that's just what it looks like to me! as seen on design milk...

classic christmas

ah, the old classics... charlie brown's christmas, rudolph the red nosed reindeer, frosty the snowman, the grinch...

every year at christmas time i end up wishing i was a little kid again, because this was my favorite time of year, and it was truly magical. i used to get so excited to watch all these shows on tv. my family would snuggle up together on the couch, and christmas really began as we watched all these annual favorites.

i'm going to search on amazon.com right now to see if i can buy them before christmas!

... dreaming of a white christmas in leg warmers

the snow is officially coming down here in boulder this morning, and i'm having a craving to pull out the bin of yarn and start knitting some leg warmers. perhaps pink...? since i seem to be obsessed with the color these days. i was a non-pink kind of girl up until about 2 years ago, when all of a sudden everything started having to be pink. it's a mystery...
