robert kushner... artiste extraordinaire

i've been thinking about robert kushner lately. the first time i saw his paintings in person was last summer at the sandy carson gallery in denver, and i was blown away. his work is beautiful and inspired by flowers, and he combines interesting materials (ie: gold leaf, acrylic paint, collage, glitter...) to create visually stunning pieces. read more about robert kushner right here.

cool artist... ryan mcginnis

my mom pointed me in the direction of ryan mcginnis' work yesterday, and i have to say, i'm glad i took a gander at his website. my favorite part is that his portfolio shows work that goes through every year from 1994, and you really get a chance to see how an artist's work can change over time. and boy did his change! go to his website right here. have fun browsing!

'bubble' wall light from vienna

oh my god, i am in love with these wall sconces!!! so amazing. i also like the little hole-filled candle holder. so adorable. feinedinge, out of vienna, austria, creates these beautiful porcelain pieces, and i am sitting in my chair drooling right now. i am about to start a sculpture class next week..... maybe i can make something like this...... (different, though, of course, and much more amateur, i'm sure- don't want to b a copy-cat, now!) check out more from feinedinge right here.

stitch (chicago)

whenever i may happen to visit chicago, i will be going to this store. stitch carries a bit of everything, from earrings to sheets to silk-screened tea towels by various international artists. check it out!

fabulous stationary

i am intrigued by the idea of having personalized stationary. now, i'm not usually one to buy stationary ( i tend to make my own), but i kind-of like the idea of having something to send out as thank you notes to clients and such. what do you think? these designs, by philadelphia-based fabulous stationary.com, were my favorites of the bunch. see many many more right here.

johanna basford wallpaper

i love discovering new wall paper designers. thanks to jan over at poppytalk, i found johanna basford this morning, who hand-draws and silk-screens her wallpapers in aberdeenshire, scotland. gorgeous!

building those million dollar houses

springtime in my neighborhood means building as many new, gigantic houses as possible. it seems that they go up all at once. this was a big crazy-looking truck that i saw early one morning on my walk to my studio. blocking the street, building a big house.

thom browne fall 2007 collection

thom browne designs the most interesting clothes! i can't wait to see how these designs from his fall 2007 men's collection pop up all over the big cities of the world; men in thigh-high socks? i'm not so sure... but his work is inspiring to look at, to say the least!

not on the high street {pillows}

i love these pillows by pippa caley of not on the high street. so spring-y and adorable. i need to dress up my old safari-print couch (believe me-- it IS as hideous as it sounds!) somehow since it's not in my budget to buy a gorgeous new couch and throw the ol' trusted safari couch off the top of a building and never look back! (although i'd of course do the socially and environmentally responsible thing and take it to the salvation army so someone else could share in the love of the beast.)
........

some couches to pine for:

pink couches??? i'm in heaven!

swoon... lisa congdon

i don't know why i haven't posted about lisa congdon before, but her work blows me away. so inventive and colorful! these images are from her show at reform school in los angeles that ran from february 10- march 8. i love how the work is hung- so spontaneous-yet-planned-looking. see more photos from the show right here.
