blue q

while reading helen dardik's blog, orange you lucky, this morning, i clicked through to blue q, a company for which helen created the pattern on the bag above. (isn't it the cutest?)

not knowing anything about blue q, i decided to browse the website, and *oh my goodness*. i am so entertained! i'm totally on the same brain wave as far as their sense of humor goes-- i mean, look at that tin bank below! is that not the funniest thing you've ever seen?

and everything in their store is so crazy and funny, that i totally wish i worked with these people! i bet they have a ridiculous amount of fun every day.

i remember a few years ago i had a little holiday shindig for my family at my house in boulder, and i made these funny invitations with a drawing of jesus on the front (it was a joke, because i am so not religious, and neither is anyone in my family), and it made me giggle when i looked at it. everyone in my family thought it was funny, too, but my sister's boyfriend totally didn't get it and asked my sister if i had "gone religious." she said she laughed and laughed..... and then just told him i'm really weird. :) i don't mean to offend anyone-- i just really like jesus art, like that sparkle cream below. i think it's hilarious. i mean, lookin' good for jesus sparkle cream? come ON! that's just plain awesome!

anyway, you really should go visit this website- it's perfect for a friday morning when you should be working. :) (like me!)

make sure you browse the book section (you wil find the bad asses book and the 18 things you never knew you could do with a small stone book below, plus many other good ones). and also, please, if you don't do anything else, watch the advertising videos by clicking on the 'meet jack & jennessy' link on the right side of the homepage. i promise, they are insane, and you will laugh. or you'll just think i'm weird.

halloween!

happy monday AND november to you all! i hope you had a fantastic weekend of halloween-ing and getting an extra hour of sleep. woo!

as promised, here are some pics of ryan and i in our matching costumes. he was thrilled, as i'd hoped. (hee hee) we were bears dressed as pumpkins, and it was so so funny!

see that sticker on ryan's pumpkin outfit? it says "i'm a georgia voter." yes, we voted on friday afternoon-- when i said we were going the friday before that, the line was 5 hours long so we had to turn around a go home, because neither of us could sacrifice 5 hours that day. so instead, we went on halloween and waiting for 4 hours and 15 minutes. over 4 hours to vote!! craziness. but it was really exciting, and now we can just sit back and relax tomorrow as the polls are overflowing and the votes are rolling in. i'm keeping my fingers crossed that the change we need will come to be tomorrow. :) if you haven't voted yet, DON'T FORGET!!

so after voting, we went to a halloween party that some people at ryan's school threw, and i must tell you, it got broken up by the cops at midnight-- i'm not kidding. it was so dumb, and reminded me of silly college days.... i guess the neighbors were complaining. oops. :)

sheep mower

wow. what do you think about a robotic styrofoam sheep that can mow lawns? impossible, you say? think again! meet 'mower', created by osman khan for the 2008 wired nextfest in chicago.

here's what it says on the website about 'mower':

mower is a cartoony styrofoam robot sheep that can roam large public lawns with shears in its mouth and rangefinders in its eyes, clipping the grass and avoiding obstacles. but this is no john deere graze-o-matic: it's art. its creator, osman khan, references a classic philip k. dick sci-fi story (the basis for the movie 'blade runner') to make an object that juxtaposes animal and machine. do androids dream of electric sheep? maybe, if they're as fun to watch as "moe."

well i just think this is pretty darn cute.

it's a speaker (as in, for music to come through), in the shape of a speaker bubble (as in, words coming from a person who is also a speaker.), and it's called the "speak-er."

i thought this was pretty fun-- you can create your own repeating textile pattern on the victoria and albert museum website! since i have repeating pattern on the brain these days, i thought i'd give it a whirl. and while it didn't teach me anything about actually creating the patterns, it was a fun little distraction from my work!! check it out right here.

you can now create your own simpson's character! i guess there's a simpson's movie coming out at the end of the month (i wasn't aware of this), and they must be trying to promote it, and creatively at that! you can visit the website right here, and create your very own simpson's character! i think this is pretty darn funny.

a little weekend girlie fun

my friend kristen had a sleepover at her house on friday night, because her boyfriend was out of town. 8 girls, pizza, wine, and..... teepeeing. kristen's friend casey lives in this camper trailer in her backyard (it's super cute and decked out inside!), and he was joking about spying on us, so we decided to get him back by teepeeing his trailer. hehehe! that's what you get, casey!

1. i am very particular about eating popcorn: i put nutritional yeast, bragg's liquid aminos, cumin, kelp powder, and pickapepper sauce on it. it's like heaven in a bowl!

classic christmas

ah, the old classics... charlie brown's christmas, rudolph the red nosed reindeer, frosty the snowman, the grinch...

every year at christmas time i end up wishing i was a little kid again, because this was my favorite time of year, and it was truly magical. i used to get so excited to watch all these shows on tv. my family would snuggle up together on the couch, and christmas really began as we watched all these annual favorites.

i'm going to search on amazon.com right now to see if i can buy them before christmas!
