TREASURING HAS MOVED!
I've moved Treasuring over to my website, so you can now find it new and improved RIGHT HERE. Please update your readers and subscribe if you haven't already. Thanks!(You can get email updates from the new site, too, if that suits your fancy!)
hey!! one more thing on this lovely friday afternoon. i made a new gocco print to join the ranks of my other text-y pieces-- and i *love* the sentiment of this one. i mean, it's so true, right? we're all so unique. yay. :) you can scoop one up in my shop if you love it!
i hope you all have a magnificent weekend-- are you going to watch the superbowl? i'm convinced that the only reason i force myself to watch the superbowl is becuase there's usually guacamole involved. oh, how i love guac. :)
yesterday i discovered rosa murillo's work, and boy am i happy i did! i'm totally crazy about the image above-- rosa was invited to illustrate a deck of cards, along with other 51 artists (one card for each artist). she got the 10 of diamonds, and this is her illustration. isn't it amazing?
i also love this idea- the piece above is a 'free art' piece that rosa left at the public library in her town (charlotte, NC) for some lucky soul to find. how wonderful!
a new day and a new pattern. (i actually made this one last night, but who's asking?) it's called 'lindy', and it feels different from my others.... i didn't hand-draw anything for this one- it's purely computer- which is probably why it's different. i like it, though! and red + gray is my faaaaavorite color combo lately. what's yours?
i'm trying to keep the positive thoughts flowing these days, and what better than with an image of love balloons? (plus, with valentine's day on the way, love is in the air anyway!)

these balloons say love in several different languages... have i mentioned how much i love google translate? those folks over at google are smarties, i say.
good morning lovelies!
i just discovered laura george's 'lumilop how to do things art prints' at supermarket, and now i'm wishing that everything throughout my day had instructions like these. it would make everything so much more fun! and what a creative way to remember to be mindful about things that are often taken for granted like eating a banana. giving everything this much attention would make life so much more wonderful. :)
oh laura george, can you please illustrate my entire life?

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS??????domino is done. like, in march. nooooo!!!ok, NOW the economy is affecting me. boo.
i couldn't resist posting these adorable rain clouds by little green frog today, because it's raining here, and i just think they're too cute to pass up. i want them hanging all over my house!
get your very own rain cloud right here-- they're made in vancouver, british columbia, a place i desperately want to visit one day. oh, and you can read the little green frog blog, too!
and if you are an artist, why not set up a shop? it's always niceto have another place to show and sell your beautiful work!
oh, holy fabulousness. are these not the most amazing pieces of art you've seen all day? i'm completely over the top crazy about these pieces by andrea d'aquino. particularly that top image. WOW.

i don't think i could be more excited to tell you about this project that i am lucky enough to be a part of. samantha hahn (one of my bff's from printsource a couple weeks ago) asked me to submit an image for a book called 'love' that she has put together specially for valentine's day, and it is chock full of images, all with a love theme, by a group of incredibly talented people! (the gorgeous cover above is done by samantha herself- isn't it amazing??)
this is my contribution above.
and here is how samantha describes the book: "i'm excited to share an art book on "love" with you. i asked 25 artists & writers—each with a distinct style and voice—to submit a piece inspired by their idea of love, and then I published them as a book on blurb, a print-on-demand website. the contributing artists hail from around the world. I knew that each one's interpretation of love would be singular, but with some profound similarities.
love is the ideal subject for artists to interpret. we all love, but everyone defines love differently in their minds and hearts. we all love differently and the same. we are connected through love and art."
click here for a full list of the contributing artists and also to see some sneak peeks!
it looks like a goodie, folks. and the best part is that you can purchase it on the blurb website! what a perfect valentine's day gift, wouldn't you say? i can't wait to receive my copy!
ok, how funny are these napkins from london-based hector serrano studio?i always think it's really ridiculous when people tuck napkins into their shirts (especially in public!), but if i saw someone with one if these, i would just have to laugh!
you can buy them right here if you are so inclined. i'm sure they would be attention grabbers if you wore one!
simon's work is inspired by 'imaginary worlds, interesting places, toys and unusual objects' (read more about what's behind his work here)- if i had had a book with illustrations like these as a kid, it would've been my absolute favorite. i love the bright colors and energetic scenes!

painting has resumed! i'm realizing how much i missed it, too- painting is relaxing for me in a way that other mediums are not.i'm not sure how to explain it, but it's like i can connect with painting in a deeper way or something and allow the painting to take on its own life. that sounds crazy, but some of you probably know exactly what i mean!
anyway, this new one is called 'wear your emotions.' i'm fond of it. i don't usually paint men, and i try not to us hearts in my paintings (because it's easy for them to get cheesey really fast), but i like this heart-shaped eye patch. what do you think? cheesey?
our wedding is fast approaching. 6 months and 5 days from now, i'll be on the beach getting ready to marry ryan!
we made our save the date cards over the weekend and i'm getting ready to send them out. they're postcard style! simple and to the point. i'm happy with how they turned out- i rounded the corners, too, after i took these photos, which i think makes them look nicer.
we used a hand-carved linoleum block stamp for the white underneath, and then my gocco printer for the green letters. i'm *so sad* that the gocco printers have been discontinued and the supplies are almost gone.... won't someone please start making these precious printers again? pretty please?
i was checking out the gingerbeards blog, and there is a fantastic quote from a client: 'your work often leaves me scratching my head, but i like it'. i think this is a perfect way to describe rich's work! i am fascinated by his strange ideas and kooky style, and i really really like his work.
if i ran a magazine, i think i would have rich illustrate the whole thing. seriously.
you guys. can you believe it? ryan and i got a kitten over the weekend!!! it only took my about 3 years to convince him to get one, but this weekend my badgering paid off. and now we are the proud parents of anika, the most precious kitten i have ever laid eyes on!
we adopted her from a rescue shelter on saturday, brought her home, and then practically ran to the store to go stock up on kitty goodies toys, food, scratch pad, the works. :) it took her no time at all to adjust to her new environment- she just walked to every inch of the house and then started bouncing around and purring and being completely loving with us. i just want to squish her she's so cute!! she's even slept with us the past 2 nights. although, she did wake us up at 1:45 in the morning thinking it was time to play!
right now she is rolling around on the floor playing with a drinking glass behind me- she's a total spazz and fits right in with ryan and i! and now she just darted into the bathroom and jumped into the bath tub. she has so much energy!
anyway, just thought you all might want to see the cute pictures and hear the good news. :) thanks for indulging me (i guess you didn't really have a choice though, eh?)!!
