patrick gildersleeves

these pieces by patrick gildersleeves are so much fun! the perfect way to end the week, i do say. patrick has a blog, etsy shop, and a website-- i've had so much fun browsing through his imaginative drawings! i promise you'll love them, too. :)

have a happy happy weekend, whatever you are going to be doing! i'll be making sugar cookies, watching the grinch and charlie brown's christmas, packing to leave for the holidays on monday morning, and going to see the nutcracker on sunday night! it's going to be a good, christmas-y weekend. yay!

new pattern: up down

well, it's been a while since i posted new pattern, hasn't it?
i need your help again-- which of these colorways do you like the most? and do you like it better with (top 2) or without (bottom 2) the outlined white triangles?

just trying to gather some market research from you all....

also, tomorrow is the last day to order something from my shop before christmas! so if there is something you've had your eye on, snap it up now! the 'buy a calendar get a free print' sale and 'buy 3 prints get one free' sale are still going on through december 31st, in case you feel the need to make some pre-new year purchases. :)

art garage sale

i don't think i could be more excited to tell you all about this new site that my dear friend travis has developed called art garage sale.

basically, if you are looking for a new online venue through which to sell your artwork, this is the place to go. art garage sale actually began many years ago at a contemporary art museum in boulder where travis and i both worked, and local artists would set up shop for a day and sell their work at affordable prices. it was a huge hit, and now travis has taken the idea online.

it is super easy to set up a shop, and there are absolutely no listing fees until june 2009! i set up my shop a few days ago, and even had my first sale!

i'm so proud of travis-- please take a moment to check out the site and set up a shop if you are the artsy type. :)

you can contact travis directly if you have any questions, too-- he'd be happy to help!

pinecone & felt christmas trees

ok, these felted wool & pinecone christmas trees just completely made my day. i think they might be the sweetest things i've ever seen in my whole life. truly. i've had truluxe's shop favorited on etsy for a while now, and i really need to order something. i want to cover my house in these little trees! oh, and the acorns. have you seen the acorns??!

shane campbell

clowns get very mixed reviews in our world. some people love them, some people feel otherwise. in shane campbell's paintings, clowns are flattened, dejected, taunted, humiliated. it makes me think of the people underneath those clown suits, what their lives are like.

shane's work is just brilliant, in my opinion. i think he has captured some very human emotions in a very innovative way. plus, his color palette is divine, and that's always an A+ for me. :)

pinecone lanterns

these feel so wintery and wonderful to me. what a fun way to use a pinecone shape!
get them here.

ramis kim

why don't i ever use this color in my paintings? it is beautiful! and i'm totally enamored with these pieces by ramis kim. like, they're my new favorites for today, for real. :)

see more at tinlark gallery, on ramis' website, her blog, and her flickr page.

fermette

these happy and sunny cards by fermette are right up my alley this morning-- perhaps partly because it's been drizzly and cloudy here in atlanta for the past few days. receiving one of these cards in the mail would make my day!

potato unicorn

while browsing for unicorn paintings on etsy (don't ask me why), i came across this, the absolute cutest thing i've ever seen.

the listing tells me that the potato unicorn was drawn by mabel benzing and painted by dunstin benzing. i think my heart just broke a little. this is just too adorable.

please please please visit their etsy shop!

your personal moon

wow, i feel like my world just got a little brighter knowing this project, titled 'your personal moon', is out there and was created by someone. i think they might be the most beautiful images i've ever seen. i would love to have my own personal moon, wouldn't you?

andrew bannecker

where have i been not knowing about andrew bannecker's beautiful illustrations? sometimes i think i live under a rock.

his illustrations are just plain awesome. awesome awesome awesome.
i received an email from charmingwall this morning that included the horse image above, and i was instantly smitten. so, naturally, i tried to find all the places where you can get/see andrew's work. so, here you go:

charmingwall, his website, CIA (central illustration agency in the UK + Paris), bernstein & andriulli agency (in NYC). i love it all!

new pattern: elephant bubbles

yep, another new pattern, my dears. this one was made on friday, before the craziness of saturday's show and the laziness that was sunday.

this one is called 'elephant bubbles'-- can you see the elephants in there?

paper n stitch!

i wanted to let you all know that i'm exhibiting over at paper n stitch this month-- the new exhibition started today! the artists that are part of the exhibition are really a talented bunch-- check them out right here!

i'm a *huge* fan of paper n stitch-- i think brittni wood's aesthetic is spot on (she's one of the two geniuses behind paper n stitch), and i'm so honored to be the same page as all the
crazy-talented artists who are involved!

blanca helga

good morning my friends! i hope you had all had lovely weekends. i had a show on saturday, which meant a 15 hour day for me (eek!). and then i was dead to the world yesterday. i even took a 3 hour nap! and i am not a napper. it was so so nice. :)

anyway, these pieces feel like the perfect start to a drizzly monday morning-- i know i announce that i have a new favorite artist pretty much every day, but madrid-based blanca helga is definitely my favorite artist as of this moment. seeing that image above, how could she not be? it's just perfection.

and who doesn't love a good eskimo?

and blanca has an etsy shop and a flickr page, so you know where i'll be all morning!

tulips to kiss jewelry

i think these necklaces byboston-based kelly jean conroy (aka: tulips to kiss) are totally clever and cute. this series is called the food chain series, and each animal has a cutout of the food they eat in their bellies. look at the bunny with the carrot in his tummy!

i love me a good necklace, and one of these would really be a great addition to my collection. perhaps i'll buy myself a christmas present...?

oh, and happy weekend!

new pattern: plum leaf

somehow this pattern slipped by me and tried to hide from being posted about, but i'm pulling it out of its shyness and showing it to you now.

i particularly like the magenta one-- for some reason it reminds me of starbucks when i look at it. i'm not sure why.

new ornament!

ryan and i buy each other a new christmas ornament every year (so we can grow our collection of cool ornaments.... we have quite a few lame ones. :), and look at the shark i bought yesterday! it cracks me up. i can't wait for it to arrive!

i ordered it from robin russell ceramics' etsy shop, and i think it's pretty wonderful!

alphabet poster

one of my favorite memories of being a kid is when my mom used to draw my name on a piece of paper in big bubble letters and then we'd turn all the letters into animals and monsters and people... it was just the most fantastic thing in the world to my little artistic self, and we made new drawings this way all the time. so when i started thinking about creating an alphabet poster, this was the natural solution for me!

i'm so so excited about how this turned out--it just makes me giggle. i mean, look at the 'L'! and the 'A'! it measures 13x17" and is printed on 16x20" thick, matte, white paper. (it fits perfectly in an ikea ribba frame.)

i think i'm going to make a pink version, too-- this one is sort-of boyish, and i imagine a girly version would be a nice complement to it.

this will be just adorable all framed up in a child's room-- it's in my etsy shop, so if you have a little one (or know a little one!), perhaps this could be perfect for him/her.
