it's raining today, yippee! and how appropriate, as i just created this new rain pattern yesterday (same idea as this rain pattern, but different colors).
i think this will be my last post for the day-- ryan and i have a serious house-cleaning mission planned for this afternoon, so you can just picture me scrubbing toilets and cleaning out the fridge if you want a good chuckle!
i learned of sam weber's work recently from my new friend kelly mckernan- she was lucky enough to be invited to a program at SCAD where sam was speaking, so she got to meet him and watch him work in person!
sam's client list is ridiculously enviable, and something for any illustrator to aspire to. i just think his work is so cool! i'm definitely going to be keeping my eye out for it in magazines and newspapers from now on.

goodness, it's been a while since i've posted a pattern! i've certainly been working on some, i'm just not able to post them here (believe me, i want to, but they must be kept secret)!
but here is one for you today-- florals are on my brain lately, and this one is called 'water lilies'. i really like it!
you can get one for yourself if you love them as much as i do over at supermarket. or if you're feeling friendly and you want to buy one as a surprise for me, i wouldn't mind that either. :) hee hee...

i think these illustrations by elizabeth sanchez are really beautiful-- i really love the texture within the solid colors... i think it comes from elizabeth's use of prismacolor markers, but i'm not entirely sure.
i'm not usually a huge fan of full-on portraits of people, mostly because i feel like it might be weird to have portraits of people i don't know hanging in my house, but these piecse by naomi layne transcend that preference of mine-- they are exquisite, in my book! i love the quality of the paint, and they just make me long to get out my oil paints and slap some really thick paint on a canvas. i'm an oil paint girl at heart, and these beauties are making said heart sing with joy!!
you can snap up both originals and prints in naomi's shop-- her originals are a serious bargain, if you ask me. affordable and gorgeous indeed!
something about these paintings by wesley younie is really lovely-- they make me wish they were illustrations in a children's book, because they seem to be narrating stories from far-away lands.
i'd love to see these in person-- i imagined them being quite large and filling up a lot of wall space, but when i read about the pieces over at tinlark gallery (where wesley is represented), i found that some of them are actually quite small. for example, the whale piece above is just 5x6"!

occasionally i come across jewelry that i just want to buy up instantly, one of each, because i think it's so wonderful. this is what's happening right now as i'm looking at niceLena's jewelry-- it is completely right up my alley! those yellow earrings below are seriously calling my name.... i might have to pause this blog post to go buy them.
monday monday monday! there's something i like about monday mornings-- it's like a fresh start, and who knows what's going to happen in the next 5 days! i hope you all had a terrific weekend. i spent half of the day both saturday and sunday learning flash and having a ball-- oh man, just wait until you see what i'm going to make. i have *big* plans. but i have to finish the class next weekend first. :)

this cute illustration is by khunlee, and it is perfect as i go into this weekend, because i'm taking a flash animation class starting tomorrow at SCAD! i'm so so so excited- i love learning mew skills, and this one's going to be a goodie.

i love these images by john shipman. what makes me love them even more is that they are inspired directly by his wife. how romantic is that? what a lucky lady, to have an entire series of paintings dedicated to her by her loving husband. *wow*.
all of john's work, which you can see on his flickr page, is truly amazing. i'm hoping maybe he'll submit something to pecannoot.... i think his pieces are just right-- full of love and abundance!
these pieces by ethan hayes-chute just make me happy. i really want to be on top of that hill to see what the view is like. i love the big wide open space he creates in his paintings.
