brand new website: art wall

I am so so excited to introduce you to this brand new website called Art Wall this morning, not only because it's a fantastic concept, but because I created all the illustrations for the site! Katie Stephenson, the mastermind behind Art Wall (and she also runs Save Gocco and a lovely etsy shop,) contacted me back in June, and we've been working together ever since.

I also created this little animation trailer for the site. I love how it turned out!

And here are a few shots of the website pages. You can click on each frame to get a bigger view of the piece of artwork and read a description of it and the artist, and also to purchase. And my oh my, there are some wonderful artists involved!

HUGE congrats to Katie-- I know how hard she's worked on this project, and I can only imagine how thrilled she is that it's up and running this morning!

Please take a peek at the site and let me (and Katie, of course) know what you think!!

AND, you can become a fan on facebook, follow Art Wall on twitter, and check out the Art Wall blog. All the bases are covered. :)

Enjoy!

society 6

have you all heard about society 6 yet? i just discovered it yesterday, and boy am i excited! society 6 is a vibrant social networking platform for artists to promote their work and connect with unique opportunities. it's a verycool concept-- you can create studios within your page to showcase different bodies/styles of work, follow other artists, promote other artists' work on your page, and connect with fellow creatives all over the world. plus, they have a crazy awesome artist grant program, where organizations/companies/individuals can offer grants to artists, and the society6 community nominates who they think should receive the grant. and the grants are really amazing! (you can check out the full list here.) i found out about society6 through threadless, who are offering a grant to design an exclusive t-shirt for their select series and $1,000!

anyway, i thought you all might be interested since many of you are artists, and we're all always looking for new ways to promote our work and connect with other like-minded folks. (i started a page and am in the process of getting some work uploaded and starting to follow people and their studios! so much fun.)

*you can also read more about society6 over at cool hunting-- they wrote a great post about it!*

i'm back!

hi friends! i'm back from rhode island, and goodness, it was such a fun weekend! my show opening on friday night at yes gallery & studio went marvelously-- you can see some shots of my work hanging below, and the photo above is the outside of the gallery. isn't that building amazing?

this is a photo from the opening-- i am in the middle in the gray dress, and next to me (in black & white) is leigh, the gallery owner. she is too wonderful for words! the other 2 women are georgia (left) and judith (right), who work in the gallery.

i was in love with the shadow that the sign on the window made-- it would just make me happy to see it on the floor every day! such a positive reminder.

i'll post more about the gallery later today and some of the fabulous work there-- it was such an inspiration.

SK8 or Die IV at Young Blood Gallery

i just finished painting my skateboard that will be part of the upcoming SK8 or Die IV show at Young Blood Gallery here in Atlanta, and I'm so excited to show it to you! I've never painted a skateboard before. It was fun. :)

i think i'm going to call it "in the universe" or something like that. any suggestions? the show runs may 2-31, and 105 artists were invited to participate! what a fun show it will be to see in person. the boards will be in a silent auction on opening night, and then $100 after that.

i wonder if anyone will buy mine? it's sort-of girly. :)

i hope you all have a fabulous weekend! i will be working away on my animation, which is the never-ending project, and i am obsessed with it. see you monday! xoxo

a free twitter icon and an interview!

a couple quick things: 1. see the bird above? i drew it for inspired magazine's social bird project, where they invited 20 illustrators to create twitter bird icons that you can download for free! there are some really awesome ones-- check 'em out and start following all these fine folks on twitter.

(and speaking of that, don't you want to follow me on twitter, too?)

2. i have an interview up over at the shiny squirrel right now. if you want to know a little more about me, this is the place to go today. (big thanks to jessica for wanting to interview me!)

another submission to infectious.com

oh monday. here you are again. did this weekend go as quickly for you as it did for me? i hope you had a lovely easter if you celebrated... we didn't do anything easter-y, but it was a lovely day anyway. i spent about 8 hours working on my wedding animation (this is a seriously time-consuming project!), and ryan and i went on a run in the perfect spring weather in the afternoon. now today it is raining raining.

rainy days= back to work.

anyway, another thing i did th is weekend was submit this laptop skin with my 'love balloons' pattern to infectious.com, which you can vote on now! if it gets a lot of votes and love, it could get chosen to get printed, which would make me very happy! if you get a chance, i'd love it if you would vote for my design. :)
