le barche di venezia

wow, it's raining cats and dogs outside right now, so this watery image feels appropriate! this is a new illustration of mine called 'le barche di venezia', which means 'the boats in venice' (in case you're a non-italian speaker, like i am.)

i discovered a feature on google that i had no idea existed when i was trying to figure out how to say that phrase in italian-- google translate. you can type in any word, sentence, or phrase, and it'll translate it into a bunch of different languages for you!

for example, if you were wondering how to say 'it is raining cats and dogs outside' in filipino, you could find out that it is like this: 'ito ay ulan sa labas'.

Or how about in slovenian?
here you go:

i am officially obsessed. if you see whole posts here in languages you don't understand, don't blame me. blame google. :) (for being so freaking awesome, of course.)

ps- did you see these photos of the recent high water floods in venice? incredible.
