spike press.... gig posters

ok, get ready, because i'm about to gush shamelessly about this artist's work. john solimine of spike press is now at the top of my list of favorite illustrators. THE TOP. these posters are fantastic. the colors, the imagination, the bands for which the posters were designed..... all of it is absolutely, exactly, perfectly right up my alley. i mean, that mexican cheerleader poster? come on, it's so awesome!

and this sweet little santa poster gave me a little chill when i saw it-- i'm a sucker for anything christmas-y that reminds of my childhood christmases watching rudolph the red-nosed reindeer and the grinch, and doesn't this remind you of a 60s christmas animation in a way?

you really really should go check out his website, because it is brimming with posters that are simply incredible. i would've posted them all here, but it seems like that would be some sort of violation of something......! anyway, you can also read this interview with john over at virgin mobile usa. you can also find him at gigposters.com, another ridiculously awesome site. how am i going to get anything done today??
