hand-printed pillows

i've been busily printing pillow covers this afternoon, trying to complete a wholesale order before i leave for boulder on thursday morning. i'm loving this new direction i'm moving lately toward more textile work-- i really have to get my butt in gear and order some fabric from spooflower with my designs. i can't wait to see how my other patterns look on fabric! i think the contrast between this hand-printed variety and the digital designs will be really nice. or maybe it'll be weird and disjointed who knows.

i realized just now that i haven't painted in DAYS, because i've been so obsessed with making patterns! much of the time i wish i didn't need to sleep, because i could do so much more! it seems there's always something i'm not getting to.

weekend patterns

can anyone guess what i spent some time doing this weekend?
ryan has been away in california since wednesday, and i've been filling the quiet time with, what, else, making things (mostly patterns!) and there was a good dose of walking around the neighborhood in the nice evening weather, too.

and, i have a fun little project that i dreamed up while falling asleep last night (well, NOT falling asleep more like it-- i actually got out of bed at almost midnight to draft out the idea!), and hopefully i'll have some photos to show you soon! think: 3-dimensional. that's the only hint!

also, i'm sure you're all as excited about this as i am, but my dear pal erin is debuting mankind magazine today over at design for mankind-- be sure to go check it out and give her all the love and support in the world! i don't think she's slept for a week. :)

here's a brand spankin' new pattern for the morning! this one is called 'leaves of blue.' i decided to try some transparency in this one, and i love how it turned out! i like how you can see the layers through each other.

i can totally see this one as fabric...

new pattern: microcosm

i wasn't sure if i was going to get this done today and now my eyeballs feel like they're going to pop out of my head, but here is a new pattern called 'microcosm.' FINALLY! it took quite some time to put together.

now i am going to go outside and get some fresh air. i've been a zombie in front of the computer for the last few hours, and now it's my favorite time of day here in the georgia summer.

new pattern: sunny day

this 'sunny day' repeating pattern is fitting today- it is HOT outside.

one of these days i'm going to figure out how to license some of these.... i can totally picture them as fabric and such. (perhaps my first step will be trying out spoonflower, eh?) wouldn't this be cute for a baby blanket or something?

my poor kids (whenever i have them one day) are going to be swaddled in my creations until the day they move out of the house!

new gocco print!

this little gocco print is called "slugs & sparklers." it makes me giggle to think about slugs having their own little lives where they do things like have celebrations with sparklers. :)

ok, so the daily paintings are sort-of put on hold for the moment. i have WAY too many paintings piling up, and i need to figure out how to clear out a bit! i'm thinking of having an online sale..... good idea? tell me your thoughts!!

anyway, here's a new pattern for the day-- i like creating patterns so much lately, and i love that they don't take up any physical space at this point! only computer space (which is getting more full by the day.... a new computer with more space is in my future....)

this pattern is called "rainbow raindrop".
i think it's pretty dang fun!

[ps-- weekend house hunt update: ryan and i are making an offer on a house tomorrow.... eek!! i'm so nervous! it has the UGLIEST plaid carlet you've ever seen that will have to go immediately, but other than that it is quite liveable. it's just the kind of project we're looking for! keep your fingers crossed.... i'll keep you posted!]

i have a feeling i'm going to be completely obsessed with pattern making pretty soon, and now that spoonflower has opened its doors, i can even see how my patterns will look printed as fabric! i can't wait. i'm picturing pillows........
