daily home love: rockett st. george

with all the craziness of looking for a house to buy in the last couple weeks, and then figuring out the process of actually trying to buy one, i've hardly had time to think about how i'd like to decorate a new house *if* we get one!!

i spied this 'love' hook on poppytalk the other day, and immediately clicked on link to the rockett st. george shop, where the hook comes from. wouldn't it be so sweet in an entryway?

i also like this 'home' hook-- i picture this one by a back door for some reason....

LU prints and good egg industries (new shop alert!!)

in my dream house, all my napkins would be made by LU prints, and i would have table runners to go with the napkins, as well as cute totes and pouches to match.

lucky for me i can get them all at good egg industries, a new web shop based in british columbia!!

i am also eyeing this adorable wallet by bookhou design at good egg:

so, so cute, i can hardly stand it.

nina invorm... beautiful ceramics

i am a lover of ceramics, and a part of me would love to drop everything i do now and be a ceramic artist for now and ever. i love it.

and nina van de goor's work fits right into my appreciation for handmade ceramics, and i love her use of transfers. i've always been curious about how they work. (if you are curious, too, here is a great tutorial from heather of skinny laminx about how she and jesse created their gorgeous plates-- see their finished plates here and here).

anyway i love nina's work, and you can see more of it on her flickr page and her blog, as well as in her etsy shop!

the glory of wallpaper

as i've mentioned before, ryan and i are starting the process of trying to buy a house (eep!!), and one of the things that makes me the most excited is that i would get to put up wallpaper. oh, to have walls that i can treat however i want! it will be a dream come true.

these are some of the wallpapers that are catching my eye this morning.

amazing artist... heather knight (element clay studio)

if i lived in my dream house, a wall in my bathroom would be covered in these micro tiles by heather knight of element clay studio in asheville, nc.

i have a soft spot in my heart for all things ceramic, and these have just moved to the top of my list. they are so gooooorgeous and exciting!

you can buy them in heather's etsy shop, and also at supermarket (my new favorite site!)

i also love these sculptural forms:

**speaking of asheville, i think ryan and i are going to be visiting sometime in june, and i'd love some tips on things not to be missed! any suggestions?

diy idea: suspended jars

i just absolutely fell in love with this idea. those suspended jars are clever, no?
i want to run to ikea and get a shelf and some jars and make one for my studio right away! i see those jars full of paper clips, thumb tacks, beads......

according to abby (dharma lemon flickr photostream), all she did was screw the lids to the underside of the shelf, and voila! suspended jars.

genius, in my opinion. this one's going straight to the files for house inspiration. ryan and i are hopefully going to be buying a house this summer, so this will come in handy for sure.

i also liked this image from abby's photostream-- an inspiration mobile! clever again! my my, lady, i am impressed. great ideas!!

quiet little backyard abode

if i had a great backyard and lots of money to spend, i would put this little house in the yard and hide myself away to read books and look out the mini windows and draw flowers and spy on bugs. it reminds me somewhat of this, but on a smaller scale of course.
don't you love it?

beautiful bathrooms

i truly cannot wait for the day that i own a house and can do whatever i want to it. i am sure that one bathroom will be full of teeny tiles, much like the one pictured above.
and i love the drama of this black-walled bathroom-- it feels somehow calming and invigorating at the same time.

and this one below is not quite my style, but i think it's fun anyway. i love how clean tile feels!

amazing fabric by

i'm making some new pillows for our couch, so i've been scouring the sites this morning (purl soho, repro depot, j caroline...). i found this fabric designed by tina given at j caroline and am drooling over it. it's not right for the pillows, but i'm trying to think of another reason to buy a couple yards of it.

here's the fabric i ended up choosing:

white chestnut branches by joel dewberry at j caroline.

i'll be sure to post the results as soon as i make them!

textiles by bantie

i love all these pieces by swedish textile company bantie. i saw them on oh joy the other day and was instantly in love with the gorgeous fabric, which they tranform into a variety of useful pieces: place mats, lamps, pillows....

their website is really nice, too-- i love how the swedish language looks. i wonder if it's really hard to learn?

i love you forever and ever

ah, valentine's day. it is upon us. i am loving this print on canvas from identity 5 that i found on 2modern, shoppe extraordinaire. wouldn't that just be so cute in my bedroom.....

(02.12.08 note: i originally saw this on bloesem, but i couldn't remember where when i wrote this post! sorry to irene... hope she'll forgive me!!)

i just made a valentine for ryan that i'm going to put a super-sneaky engagement ring in ( i like the idea of the man having an engagement ring, too, so in honor of our january 1, 2008 engagement, ryan is going to get one from me!). i'll be sure to post photos as soon as i have the whole sneaky plan worked out. :) it's going to involve a banner of some sort hanging in the living room i think...... i love surprises!!

mystery painting...

ok, i am in love with the painting on the wall in this photograph. in love. i want it on my wall this instant, and i have no idea who painted it. i found this image on desire to inspire, and it's in a house by the architects donovan hill in australia...

if you know who painted this fantastic piece, let me know!!! also, check out the rest of the amazing photos right here, and the desire to inspire blog (also amazing!) right here.

photos from interior inspiration

i am in love with these photos by interior inspiration on flickr. they all have this warm glowing feel to them, and it just makes me feel so cozy.

here is what sas has to say about her home in the netherlands (where these photos are taken): 'the weather here is not very appealing to me (although i was born here) so i painted my house in colours that remind me of the sun. and now even when it's raining I'm warm in my little pumpkin house :)'

it reminds me of the sun, too!

wallpaper + peacocks!

that peacock photograph is definitely my favorite thing i've seen so far today. i love it. papier peint des annees 70 is a french wallpaper company that operates out of germany (from what i could gather in my rusty college french...), and their website is chock full of shots of their papers. definitely worth a look!

{found via marie claire maison, which i found through an indian summer design blog}

denise schmidt quilts

i have been in the market for a new quilt or duvet since ryan and i got our new king sized bed in august. i haven't found anything i'm crazy about yet, but i do like these denise schmidt quilts. i'll
keep searching and find the perfect thing, i'm sure.

denise's site has lots of pretty stuff on it!

love is blind

love these pull down shades from love is blind! (via bodie and fou in the uk, via little willow.)

i would actually love to see that tree shade at the top as wallpaper... it would look so lovely on my front wall that is crying out for a pop of something. i know there are some tree wallpapers out there... something by cavern home perhaps? i'll have to conduct a search. i'd love something in a two-toned green color scheme.... results of the search later!

i'm off to atlanta this afternoon for more fun and adventuring...
