sovereign beck

i received an email from
these 2 gentleman a couple of weeks ago and can't believe i haven't posted about them until now!

so, without further ado, ryan sovereign and william beck of beck sovereign make, hands down, the coolest and most artistic ties out there in the world of ties.

here's what the talented duo has to say about their collection:

ryan sovereign and william beck, both graduates of the rhode island school of design industrial design & sculpture respectively, have been long time collaborators both musically and visually since their first meeting. in the spring of 2005, the idea of the sovereign beck collection was formed. drawing upon both the traditional and the classically abstract ideals of tie design, the sovereign beck line of neckwear was created. with the concept of giving a new expression to conservative menswear, ryan and will have fashioned a line of ties that can be both understated and provocative, classic and cutting edge. every design has been carefully realized by the artists to be not only timeless, but also a statement of individuality. created in limited quantity and with only the highest quality in mind, each tie is a statement.

i couldn't have said it better myself. i think they are just stunning, and i'm sure they're even more so in person. plus, i think the photographs are really fantastic. they are like tiny moments in a larger story, all involving fantastic ties.

ryan swift, the love of my life, just might have a new tie in his future....!

make sure to visit the sovereign beck website, and click here for a list of stores.

the cutest headphones in the world

can i tell you quickly how much i NEED these headphones? every time i try to use my classic white ipod earbuds, they just fall right out of my ears. maybe my ears are smaller than average, maybe they are the wrong shape, but whatever it is, those things do not work well for me. all the noise around me gets in, which means i have to turn up my music really loud, but then i can't enjoy it because i'm worrying about how i'm wrecking my hearing and will be deaf by the time i'm 45, and then i end up just turning it off because it's not worth the hassle.

but these pretty little babies might just be the ticket to enjoyable ipod listening for me!! they are adorable, no?

you can buy them at audiocubes. they are part of the zumreed border collection by japanese company dreams.

poketo wallets

i'm loving these wallets from poketo this morning. poketo, if you don't know already, is a network of international artists that create exclusive works and limited editions (t-shirts, wallets, homeware, etc), and my favorites are the wallets.

the above wallets are designed by page tsou, and the wallets below are by sarah utter.

and on a different note, i have, sadly, been hearing about artist plagiarism lately, and i thought this was a fun way to tell people it's not cool to steal ideas. this 'fake' bag is by designer zinoo park, and it "visualizes and satirizes the current era by combining the louis vuitton brand and graphic image of FAKE. through this project the artist critiques idolization of brand names and prevalence of knock-offs."

supposedly the louis vuitton people even bought some!

knitted craziness... sandra backlund

while checking out simply olive this morning, i was immediately taken with these pieces by sandra backlund, and had to share them here. sandra lives and works in stockholm, sweden, and each piece is made by hand. amazing work, isn't it? can you imagine knitting all that by hand? incredible.

cool model... jessica stam

i don't know that i've ever posted about fashion or model sin my life, but for some reason i am enamored with model jessica stam. i just think she is beautiful. she looked familiar to me when i saw this image, and i realized i saw her sometime last year in an issue of harper's bazaar in an amish-esque photo shoot, but i forget what it was for.

anyway, i was checking out go fug yourself (a daily read, i admit!), and came across these photos from ny magazine, and thought i'd post about them. i've never wanted to be a model, but this for some reason makes me think it would be a rather fun and glamourous life. all those great clothes, and the fabulous makeup!! what fun...

maruca design

now i'm not a huge purse person (i go more in the direction of necklaces!), but i really like these purses, and i am totally out of the loop on them! maruca design is a company right here in boulder that is extremely popular (with the ladies),and i'd never even heard of it until recently, when someone asked me: "are you going to the maruca sale?" when i said i didn't even know what the maruca sale was, she about fell on the floor.

well, i've put myself on their mailing list, so i'll be sure to know when the next sale is! check out their full inventory (which changes every season i might add) right here. enjoy!

i {stomach} new york/la

i'm pretty into these shirts. definitely my kind of humor. i can just see people doing a double take as they look at the millionth I {heart} NY shirt they've ever seen, but it's actually a stomach in place of the big red heart! so funny. if it's your kind of humor, too, you can buy one right here.

siecle- clogs, bikes, and color color color!

i love this image. i want to put all my paints i wooden shoes and be completely impractical in my studio. sounds like a much more adventurous time! siecle, a dutch company that makes clogs, bikes, wallpaper, and paint, is the creator of this lovely image. check out their site- it's quite fun. i love the random assortment of things and the color that infuses it all. although, i guess it's not that random now that i think about it, because amsterdam is full of bikes bikes bikes, and clogs clogs clogs, so i guess it makes some sense. anyway, have a look. :)

the cutest shoes in the world

this shoe is just about my favorite thing that i've seen in a long time. i would wear those shoes everyday if i had a pair. i would never tire of them. they are so darn cute, i wish i lived in morocco just so i could get a pair. but in fact, i just looked at the trippen website, and the company is based in berlin germany, so i guess i'd have to go there first. or maybe they'd let me order a pair. maybe i'll do that anyway, i love them so......

(see more trippen shoes right here)

thom browne designs the most interesting clothes! i can't wait to see how these designs from his fall 2007 men's collection pop up all over the big cities of the world; men in thigh-high socks? i'm not so sure... but his work is inspiring to look at, to say the least!

we all know how i love glitter

i've found a new blog to check out on a regular basis: glitter goods. now i love glitter (i tend not to wear glitter all that often, but i sure love using it in my art!), so this is a must-read for me. the official website for the glittery delights is glam science, so maybe i'll find some glittery bit of style that i can't live without...
