i'm wild about this beautiful fortune telling game made by olivia jeffries. it looks like it was dug out of someone's attic, in that perfectly antique-y and mysterious way. i love it.
another thing i'm loving is susy jack's blog, hey susy, where i found this gem by olivia.
if you are thinking about applying to the national stationary show at some point in the future, susan (of susyjack) wrote a terrific post about the how-to's of getting yourself to the show for the first time and everything that goes into it. it is seriously helpful. and the best part is that this is the first in a series of 3 posts (next will be during-the-show and after-the-show), so stay tuned for more!
anyway, back to olivia jeffries, her work is just beautiful. i'm crazy about the muted colors, and it makes me want to tone down my normally bright palette. don't you love being inspired by other people? :)

i've been thinking about zines the past couple of days and how i'd like to make one. it's formulating in my head, and i thought i'd look to see what kinds of zines are being offered on etsy.
do any of you have any great sites to check out artists' zines?
these are some of the ones i liked that i saw on etsy (the one at the bottom is made by a 7-year-old!), but i would love to look at more.
i wish there was an atlanta zine symposium like this one in portland.
do send along your resources if you have any!
i am seriously oogling over these sweet little houses by amsterdam-based LeiLiLALoo right now. and i absolutely adore the way they are displayed, with the chalkboard drawings of flowers and grass. so cute!!!
these little gems are available in LeiLiLALoo's etsy shop for just $18, and you can see more on her flickr page and blog. go to it!!

good morning, lovelies! did you have a nice long weekend? ryan and i hit the beach on the 4th (unfortunately not the ocean beach..... more like the lake allattoona beach, but it counts, right?) and watched some spectacular fireworks and had a generally relaxing weekend.
and now it's back to work.
(if i can even call it that-- making art does not feel like work!) this is a short week for me, though, as i'm going to boulder on thursday morning, for an opening of mine, and to visit friends and family.
but this morning, i am here, and i wanted to show you this piece by wonting, called 'solar polar,' in case you haven't seen it yet, because i think it's just stunning. STUNNING. don't you agree?
you can see more work by wonting on her website, in her etsy shop, on her blog, and in the shiny squirrel shop.

i received an email from these 2 gentleman a couple of weeks ago and can't believe i haven't posted about them until now!
so, without further ado, ryan sovereign and william beck of beck sovereign make, hands down, the coolest and most artistic ties out there in the world of ties.
here's what the talented duo has to say about their collection:
ryan sovereign and william beck, both graduates of the rhode island school of design industrial design & sculpture respectively, have been long time collaborators both musically and visually since their first meeting. in the spring of 2005, the idea of the sovereign beck collection was formed. drawing upon both the traditional and the classically abstract ideals of tie design, the sovereign beck line of neckwear was created. with the concept of giving a new expression to conservative menswear, ryan and will have fashioned a line of ties that can be both understated and provocative, classic and cutting edge. every design has been carefully realized by the artists to be not only timeless, but also a statement of individuality. created in limited quantity and with only the highest quality in mind, each tie is a statement.
i couldn't have said it better myself. i think they are just stunning, and i'm sure they're even more so in person. plus, i think the photographs are really fantastic. they are like tiny moments in a larger story, all involving fantastic ties.
ryan swift, the love of my life, just might have a new tie in his future....!
make sure to visit the sovereign beck website, and click here for a list of stores.

when i next go to new york city, a visit charmingwall is at the top of my list. and i want to see these pieces by erik otto in person, because they are oh so fine.
the boat theme is stealing my heart.

these photographs by mkendall photography are pretty much the most gorgeous images ever.
i would like these 3 hanging in a set on my wall.

now i know i've posted about jennifer davis' work before. but these were too stunning to pass up.
i am in love with them.
i can tell today is going to be one of those days where i wish i had millions of dollars to spend on art. sigh. a girl can dream, right?
visit the beholder website to see more of jennifer's work. you can also go to her website, which is full of gorgeousness!

so cute! i stumbled upon the blog of michelle romo recently (called crowded teeth), and i think her work is just adorable. particularly that whale below!! michelle is doing a project a day, focusing on a different theme each month-- and her results are just plain fun and lovely. you can view photos of each project from each month on her blog, and you can see more of her work on her website, yellowtoothpick.com.
{crowded teeth-- get it?} :)
i am a lover of ceramics, and a part of me would love to drop everything i do now and be a ceramic artist for now and ever. i love it.and nina van de goor's work fits right into my appreciation for handmade ceramics, and i love her use of transfers. i've always been curious about how they work. (if you are curious, too, here is a great tutorial from heather of skinny laminx about how she and jesse created their gorgeous plates-- see their finished plates here and here).
anyway i love nina's work, and you can see more of it on her flickr page and her blog, as well as in her etsy shop!
