lark& key gallery: 'songcatcher' show

i'm really excited to be part of this show at lark & key gallery in charlotte, NC, that opens tomorrow.

here's the premise of the show:

"songcatchers celebrate and record sound outside of a studio setting – collecting, teaching and promoting in order to preserve traditional forms of music. our first group show calls upon artists to become song catchers in the visual sense. offerings include art, pottery, jewelry – or whatever medium strikes a chord – celebrating the diversity of music and its creative influence on their work."

the show runs from july 4th - august 30th, and if you are in the area you can go to the opening reception on friday july 11th from 6-9pm.

it's sure to be an excellent grouping of artwork!!

an interview with me on flashfilm+com!

check it out!! i'm so psyched about this interview on flashfilm+com, an online magazine based in tokyo and san franciscom and i think the coolest part is seeing it in japanese! (see it below? awesome.)

anyway, you can check out the interview to learn a little more about little ole me, and make sure to check the archive of interviews-- there are such goodies as sublime stitching and orly cogan!

enjoy, and happy friday!

ICE is coming! ICE is coming! (and a project to sneak a peek at...)

this saturday, june 7th, centennial olympic park here in atlanta is going to be transformed into the best craft show you can imagine!! ICE (indie craft experience) is definitely at the top of the list for shows in this area, and i am so excited to be a part of it for the 2nd time!

and if that wasn't good enough, i get to be next to renee and charlie of wolfie and the sneak, for a day full of fun!

when you see renee's and my work together you will be drooling. it looks so. good. together.
perhaps your house is in need of some new fabulous art??

and, if you come out to the show, you will get the first glimpse of our super secret collaboration that is in the works as we speak. (after that our etsy shops will be the place to get it, but you'll have the chance to see it in person at ICE!) aren't you dying of curiosity?!?

here's a hint....

photos from the weekend

on saturday i had the most lovely time at the kirkwood spring fling! it was a gorgeous day, the people wandering through the festival were wonderful, and it's always so affirming to see people's facial expressions while they're looking at my work-- that's something i really miss in selling work online.

this was my booth-- doesn't it look cute??
and we lucked out by being placed next to the Dulce Vegan girls! I had the most delicious chocolate chip banana bread...... lucky for me they will be at ICE, too! (June 7th.... put it on the calendar...)

and this is ryan and i, being goofy as always.....

it was so much fun, and i even got a surprise visit from my college pal, jake, who i haven't seen in almost 2 years!

(ryan on the left, jake on the right)

i also got to meet erin tyner (of miniature figure photo fame), which was such a treat. (she is also selling her prints at youngblood!)

things to come in april

today i am shipping off 3 boxes filled with paintings, to 2 different galleries in the northeastern part of the usa. i am so so excited about these 2 new venues--

one box is going to artstream gallery in rochester, new hampshire, which i'm sure many of you are familiar with. they have a great show up right now featuring alena hennessy, abby glassenberg, darryl berger , and tara hogan, and then my work is going to be part of th 5th anniversary show beginning in april! (more specific details to come soon.)

here are some of the pieces that will be in the show, whose theme is "at home" :

the next 2 boxes are going to yes gallery & studio, a brand spankin' new gallery that's opening in warren, rhode island (near providence). the website should be fully up and running soon, and it sounds like leigh, the owner, has some really fantastic stuff in store for us all.

here are some of the pieces you'll find there:

you can also find prints of my work in these 2 online shops:
indie fixx and the shiny squirrel!

whew! so, after today i'm taking a much needed break and ryan and i are whisking ourselves away to california to visit his family. i'll be back blogging on monday!

**also, i will be starting a new monthly newsletter beginning at the end of this month, so if you would like to be on the mailing list to receive the newsletter, you can pop over to my website and sign yourself up, or just shoot me an email and i'll add you to the list.

guest blogging on indie fixx!

{photo via spring_peeper's flickr photostream}

happy monday!! and happy st. patrick's day!

are you awake yet? i just had a couple cups of coffee in my favorite little pink mug, and i'm slowly coming out of my sleepy haze.... ryan and i stayed up too late last night watching old episodes of 'lost'... we are, to say the least, obsessed, and catching up on 3 seasons worth of shows that we, for some reason, never watched.

so, i have some fun news to share with you all this morning-- this morning you can read my first guest blogging post on indie fixx! i will be writing a weekly 'green'-themed column (as in eco-friendly), and i am oh so excited. my first post is an interview with anne of relove projects (from my hometown of boulder, co!), and you can read it right here. indie fixx is going green all day today in honor of st. patrick's day (don't forget to wear your green, or you might get pinched!), and it is overflowing with great finds that you won't want to miss.

as part of the column each week, there will also be a green challenge, and anyone can participate! how it works: i give you a challenge for the week, you complete the challenge, photograph your results, post them in the 'indie is the new green' flickr group, and we will choose a winner that will be posted on the following week's blog! fun, huh? and the real kicker: the winner will get a prize! (not every week.... but often!) this week the prize is a reusable coffee cup sleeve made by textile fetish- they are adorable, and help your take-out coffee cup (if you just totally spaced bringing your own mug) be a little more eco-friendly.

happy reading, creating, and happy st. patrick-ing!

lovely hearts at artstream gallery

just wanted to let you all know that i will have a few new pieces in the 'lovely hearts' show at artstream gallery in february. (you can see one of my pieces in the mosaic above... it is the second from the bottom on the left.)

here is what susan of artstream said about the show:

this exhibition will show artwork which celebrates all that is love (not just hearts), in all its aspects and invites artists everywhere to enter.

we at artstream feel there is not enough LOVE in the world. we also believe there is peace through love. we aim to add LOVE to the world through this visual project in February 2008.

at least 50% of the retail price of each artwork sold will support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. the other 50% goes directly back to the artists we love, unless the artwork is donated fully.

i like the idea of adding some love to the world!

here are my 3 pieces that will be in the show:
