easter bunnies by onegirl designwrks

now i'm not much of a doll person, but these make me wish i had a little neice or nephew or cousin or something in the family, or a friend with a baby, so i could make them something like this. i think these little easter bunnies are so cute, and not in that gross pink bunny candy easter kind of way. sophisticated cute. :) that flower on the belly button is adorable, no?

i saw them on pinkshirtsandcarwrecks and had to post them here. they are made by leslie
in melbourne, australia, who also has a blog (called one girl designwrks, ) and an etsy shop.

and look at this sweet one, straight outta the shop! you've gotta go check it out.

some things i've purchased today...

i'm finally getting into the christmas gift buying spirit! (and christmas gift-making spirit... which
many of the gifts will be!)

i officially took the buy handmade pledge this morning (finally!):

and here are a few things i have purchased since:

lart cognac berliner directory from little otsu:

set of 6 plant magnets from bird vs. bird:

goldfinch coin purse from bird vs. bird

where's waldo book:
(i know it's not handmade, but what fantastic artwork! plus, these books were my absolute *favorites* when i was a kid, so i want to share the love)

so happy with my purchases so far!

(photos of christmas projects i'm working on to come soon.....)

gregory alan isakov

i was introduced to gregory alan isakov's music a couple of summer's ago by my friend jeff, and i have been enamored with him ever since. his music is perfect. his voice, his guitar..... i'm telling you, i could listen to it all day. i've seen him play around town several times, too, and it's always just so lovely and soothing and wonderful. and the coolest news: he's opening for ani difranco in a few days! how cool is that? i have a soft spot in my heart for ani difranco, as she was the inspiration for my songwriting and guitar-playing days (more about that long-ago life later...)

anyway, check out his website (which is super creative, i must say!), and his newest cd, "that sea, the gambler." so so good.

and isn't he adorable??

reform school

while in california this past week, i ventured over to the silverlake area of los angeles to meet some old high school friends, and i got to visit reform school as well! (i drove on the freeway, which i was so afraid to do... it wasn't that bad!)

this is such a great shop. full of great design and handmade stuff. i bought this udon noodle bowl by flavour design in kelly green:

it is ADORABLE. i can't wait to use it. it is patiently waiting on the kitchen counter to be broken in. perhaps tonight for dinner....

drooling over someone else's house

yep, i'm pretty much in love with this interior. that pattern on the walls has me captivated. i want it on my own walls. the lucky man that lives in this dream house (and designed it, of course) is mark christofi, and it's right outside of boston. this is somewhere that i would truly love to see in person. see more photos on the house & garden website right here.

truly inspiring...

all i can say is wow. and i wish that i were in venice to see this incredible installation. it's called "falling leaves" and it's by gerda steiner andjorg lenzlinger, at the san stae church in venice... unbelievable. i am now on a mission to REALLY plan a trip to somewhere exciting. no more fake talking about traveling!

tights with a sheen

i am loving this photo from Harper's Bazaar. I want those brown tights with a bit of sparkle to them. the brown and gold thing that's going on is inspiring-- i think i'll make a painting in the same color scheme. inspiration from unexpected places!

cool things everywhere

i saw these gift bags at a great store here in boulder called paper doll, and i couldn't resist! they're sparkly and wonderful and so completely my style. very mucha-esque. (check out alphonse mucha if you haven't done so already...)

i went to the mucha museum when i was in prague last year and fell in love with his work. art nouveau is gorgeous inspiration!!
